Gemma Frances is a writer by day and social worker by night. Her dream of travelling the world as cabin crew was thwarted when the GFC left her with an approved career break but nothing to do (an ill-considered tattoo didn’t help). Armed with a round-the-world flight and a suitcase, she travelled to Australia from the UK on a gap year, fell in love with her husband, and developed a passion for Melbourne coffee (and writing!).

Gemma’s debut novel, Meet Me at The Melbourne, won Dick and Angel Strawbridge of the TV show Escape to the Chateau’s Literature Competition in 2020 and was published through The Chateau Publishing Ltd in 2021. An updated edition of MMATM was released in 2024.

MMATM and Gemma’s latest novels, The Debutante and Fractured, are available for purchase worldwide via most major e-book retailers and in paperback. Gemma also writes for Charity Journal Australia.
